When alto saxophonist Sonny Stitt began his career in the early 1940s, some critics unjustly labeled him a Charlie Parker clone. He soon proved that he actually had a profile all of his own with recordings on which he could be heard as a tenor or even baritone saxophonist. For "Blows The Blues" in 1959, however, he returned exclusively to the alto saxophone. The title of the album says it all! With his excellent and well-rehearsed quartet, Sonny Stitt presents eight numbers (six of them written by him) in different shades of blues.
